this went without saying that on a recent date night with my dear friend michele, we were determined to get photos of us together since we’ve been friends for over a year and have nothing to prove for it. she had recently returned from a month long trip to the UK and South Africa and her super cool boyfriend decided to gift her with two tickets to the indian jazz festival in kirkland. it was his parting gift as he got on a plane 12 hours later for a 2 week trip to hondorus, to spend a friday night with a girlfriend and enjoy a show…on him. jb get’s the props!
so after work on friday we did the girlie thing, kicked kyle out of the master bedroom and grabbed all my dresses out of the closet and played dress up. it was super fun! i kinda felt bad for kyle….next time we have dress up, he and jb can be in the next room comparing gear or something so they don’t feel left out.
the jazz festival was cool. i’d never been to kirkland for one. and never to an indian jazz festival. it was something i had never experienced….ever. the opening act was of this bass, drum, and piano blue jazz set. loved it. then this young black guy comes out and introduces his band and breaks into tap dance. literally tap dances to jazz! it was unbelieveable . it sounds like an oxymoron but it was amazing. next set was classical indian music which was beautiful. then this old indian guy comes out and does classica indian dance with bells on his feet (this is the simplied explanation of it) which sounds an awful lot like tap. then both the indian and tap dancers come out and do a # together and end with a showdown between the indian dancer dancing to blue jazz music and the tap dancer dancing to classical indian music. it was quite a show. i highly recommend you going even if it sounds a bit odd. here’s some photos chele and i took during intermission to prove we’re friends. it’s officially official.
