the new year has brought about quite a bit of changes for us. the holidays reminded us on a daily basis that yoshi wasn’t here to hang out, to celebrate my attempts at vegan baking and be my skilled taste tester. nor was she here to keep us sane while we wished we were back home with the family. clearly, i miss my sis. we miss our sis. being 2600 miles away will do that to you.
yoshi inspired us to move. totally kidding. well, about the yoshi part. not about the moving part. we really are moving. we have been talking about it for some time now and well, what better time than the present?!
we love, love, love our current home. we have a view of the sound. we get to watch beautiful sunrises. we witness gorgeous sunsets. we cheer on the regatta races from our windows during the summer and curse the wind against our window panes during the winter.all of our furniture fits. the open floor plan is brilliant and flows so well with our lifestyle. we love the fact that our home has personality. it has an antique stained glass liquor cabinet (probably not the original intent), coved ceilings, crown molding, and all the original wood, including the hard wood floors.
i suppose we’ve also fallen in love with the leaky faucets, the nails that keep popping up in the hardwood floors, the fact that heat only works with it’s hot and when it’s freezing, all heaters in this building seem to be on strike. what can we say, they are tempermental. we love our location. granted it’s not ballard but we’re close to everything….I5, I99, ballard, LA fitness, stone gardens, all my doctors, our favorite restaurants and watering holes, our garden, our bike and running routes. but most importantly our friends, our church, and our community.
it ain’t all that bad. i have to remind myself. we’re trying to save money to do things that we love to do and want to do in the future. travel the world. save for a house. do all the outdoor stuff we used to do before we were married but don’t do at all now that we are married…i guess at the end of the day, we don’t have it too bad. and as i was lamenting to yoshi recently, she so gently reminded me, ‘jackie it’s not like you’re moving to hawaii. you’re just moving to the east side!’
well said yoshi, well said. so as of february 1st, we’ll be officially in sammamish.
but don’t fret. we will be maintaining the awesome community we still have in seattle. i mean, we’re planning to move back soon. we refuse to give up our gym memberships, our church, and our community group. and hey, if you’re ever on the east side, give us a shout! we’d love to see you!
